I first decided that I would build my own cane rod over 4 years ago and now it's complete I can't wait to start the next.

I just have to say that the whole experience has been made much easier and more enjoyable by the likes of forums such as this. Thanks to anyone in particular who offered direct advice and or encouragement.

The rod taper was taken from Wayne Cattanachs book. I love the way it handles my 4wt line, very smooth indeed. This is the first cane rod I've ever cast so I guess it was a bit of a gamble putting all that time and effort in but I had a feeling I would enjoy it. Looking forward to comparing it with other tapers too.

Good looking rod!  I like the grain of the insert.

Steve,

A rod of which you should be truely proud, very nice workmanship. I think your choice of finish, color and accent are well coordinated and beautifully exicuted. I am glad to hear you are looking at future undertakings.

As has been said, Nicely Done!  The lines are clean, simple, and elegant.  Much better looking than my first bamboo rod, I promise you.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all kind words, it really does mean a lot having invested so much, to have your work commended by people who really know what they're looking at.
