I recently purchased this Sharpes 13'er. It is my first bamboo spey rod and my first vintage bamboo rod. I've contacted Sharpes and they provided some info about their rods but nothing specific about this rod. I can't find a number anywhere or even evidence of one. I'm not sure if the rod has been refinished or not. The agate stripper is red, wraps are green or brown with green tipping. Ferrules look like brass and are tight with a great fit. Tip tops are red agate, both tips equal lengths but about 1" shorter than other two sections. If it has been altered or is not destined to be worth thousands I will probably re-finish it (not sure how since it is supposedly impregnated) put on larger guides for todays larger fly lines, and clean up the cork. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello. I live in Boise and need to order bamboo soon. I am headed to Portland in the next week or two. I would like to pick up the bundles in Portland which should cut down the cost of freight. If anyone needs to order and wouldn't mind having two more bundles shipped to them I would really appreciate the help. I will gladly split the cost of freight with you. If not, where do the Portland rod makers have their bundles shipped to? Many thanks.
Anybody out there have a 12' Waara spey? I'm hoping to make the grip soon but am having a hard time deciding on the length for the rear grip/reel seat/and forward grip. I'm using the taper out of Gould's book. Thanks.
