I'm a lurker who is looking at building a new fly rod. Have any of you built on Dan Craft's GXT blanks? I wasn't able to google any information about them.
I contacted Dan and let him know I was looking to build an all-around rod for western rivers in a 5 or 6 WT. I mainly nymph, but like to switch to dries as a hatch gets going without having to switch rods (yes I'm lazy). I have fished my buddy's z-axis and loved the rod, but I don't want to spend that much.
So I guess my question is, does the GXT series sound right for me? If I were to build two rods, one for nymphing/streamers and another for dries, would I be better off with a FT for nymphing and a Sig V for dries? I've never been able to cast one of Dan's rods, so I'm sort of flying blind here.
Thanks for your help,
