Hi Friends,

Just discovered this site and must say I'm quite impressed. How did I miss this site for so long?

I'll be teaching a class on making one's own bamboo rod blanks in Cotter Arkansas September 5-9, 2005. There are still a coupla spots open. If you would like more information, please get in touch with me at maker@canerods.com or 318 435-2278.

For information on some of my methods, take a look at http://www.globalflyfisher.com/rodbuilding/index.html

Thanks for the great site,
Harry Boyd

I've been enjoying your how-to on GFF since the beginning, and nice job with the upgrades/changes to your website. thumbsup.gif

I too would like to welcome Harry to the site!

I have been a follower of Harry's from my first days getting into this obsession 7-8 years ago.

Hi Guys,

Funny how this bamboo stuff gets next to your heart, isn't it? Thanks for the kind words on the articles and the website, though I've changed the way I do things quite a bit since I started writing those articles 4-5 years ago. I wonder if any of you might have suggestions for future bamboo-related articles?

I teach a class each September in Arkansas, and am considering doing classes in New Orleans, LA and Broken Bow, Oklahoma in Winter or Spring.

Best,
Harry

Isn't that the truth! There are just so many techniques and tapers to try, plus I find that every time I see a new rod from a different maker I think "Hey, now that is something I should try...". tongue.gif

As for a new article Harry, I'm sure anything you'd care to share would be well received. A few suggestions might be toning cane via various methods, making seats and hardware or, as rumor has it you make a mean transparent wrap, a tutorial on your method. dunno.gif
