Hi Guys
New to forum and in process of converting 9/10wt 9" to a 10" two hander due to butt extension by 10 inches and want to give this a try as a double hander for overhead casting in surf on Gold Coast in Australia.
Want to use a Rio Outbound Line, but not sure what weight to get, as most discussions seems to suggest to go 2-3 wts heavier for spey/overhead line than that indicated for normal flyline, but not sure if this then also depends on the length of the rod and as I am not making it much longer, whether the line should be closer to the normal fly line weith shown on rod.
All suggestions welcome.

I think the problem is the number of two handed casting builders on this (and most) boards are maybe 5% of the people if even that much, plus I know even most well experienced spey casters/builders will suggest that a rod that has been modified like this needs to "test out" different grain lines to find the best grain window. Hard to suggest something over the internet for your situation. I've built a few speys and cast a few as well but I would not feel comfortable suggesting a line for the modified rod your working on because it's hard to say what window it will end up having.

Best advice I can give is post the question here http://speypages.com/speyclave/ since all the members there are two handed casters maybe one of them would have a bit of an idea what grain to start with to get you in the ballpark of the proper grain.

Hope that helps.
