My neighbor got me started watching. His brother got a 55 Chevy Cameo truck last year in San Diego and John went to Kansas City this year. He sent me a message with a picture of his wife and the 69 Camaro SS last night that they bought. I went upstairs and showed my wife the picture and 5 minutes later he was on TV winning the bid. What are the odds? A lot of nice cars, some expensive and a lot of good deals also.

I find myself having to refrain for watching and going in person as it seems to cause me to slobber a lot.

I don't think I have seen that exact one yet but I do watch the Barret Jackson auction whenever it is on "Speed" ch. Always have some great old muscle cars to drool over.

All of those auctions are kinda fun to watch, but the added costs at auctions can really kill the fun...specially after you get caught up in a bidding war and don't realise how much is going to get tacked on by the auction company. But they are still neat to watch on tv and dat-dream about...I guess that i will be day-dreaming about watching an auction untill i get some kind of job (income) and can get cable or dish again.

both of those auctions Barret Jackson and Mecums charge the buyer and the seller at least 6 percent. Thats crazy profit there 12 percent on each car sold. I have not seen many of those cars or trucks go for less than 10 grand and they sell one right after another for the whole weekend.I would also like to know how much it costs to just get a seat in the arena and be able to bid.

Last I heard Barret Jackson charged almost 20% for the "house" shocking.gif They make a TON of money, especially at the big Scottsdale show where multiple cars sell for over 1-2 Million dollars.

Yea, we talked about that. He made sure to add that into his budget along with shipping , airfare and hotels. Not cheap!

I don't watch the auto auctions anymore. I figured that all the cars my parents have owned and I have owned, we collectively, probably have had a couple million bucks of cars. Back in the early 80's I found I could have bought a low mileage 1960 Edsel for $2400! I was two weeks late. crying.gif My father said if we would have known about it, he would have gone halfies on it.
