Absolutely beautiful. Stunning.
and just for those of us who are a bit metric challenged.

Thank you

The ferrules are bamboo - "sleeve type", in the fifth photo between the sections there is a 6'9''#4 rod with bamboo ferrules for comparison.

Hi RSA, this is a very nice looking rod. Also very interesting is to know how bamboo ferrules will stand Spey casting. Please keep us informed. Thanks for sharing, Juergen

Thank you Juergen.

I usually fish trout streams with much smaller rods but the Soca river in some places is wide enough to try the new rod.. I wonder what kind of line should I use.. I have a RIO spey #9 and #8WF.. Both floating lines. Sinking lines are probably out of question..?!

Hi again, very popular are lines with interchangable tips of different sinking rates. I prefer shooting heads like RIO's AFS.
Petri Heil -- are there Marmorata's in the Soca?

Thank you Juergen for the information.

In Soca the "marmorata"(Salmo Marmoratus) is quite common fish in the last 10/15 years.. Thanks to slovenian fishing organisations. I'd like to use the rod in combination with sinking line and streamer and possibly catch(Big

) "marmoratas"..

very impressive, and nicely finished. Your own taper ? hollow built?
rsa
Sep 21 2011, 01:08 PM
Thanks Adam, finchaser and roycestearns

The taper is from Rolf Baginski's book 10'#8 "hexroded" to 11'. I also made some changes in the ferrule areas to accomodate bamboo ferrules.. It is semihollow..

Thanks rsa
Soon I'm going to make my spey rod useing similary method like you have done. It will go with bamboo on bamboo ferrule sys. plus chambers.
I'm planing to use B.F. Nichols 10ft 3pc 6wt. (from hexrod) fixing to 12ft. Hope it will work.

Adam

Do you want to convert the rod to 12' 6weight?!

Will work for sure but it will be on the softer side... I was thinking to make another rod of 11' using the same taper as I used for the first rod, but for lighter line..a five or six.. Just to see what is "coming out".. Maybe a dry fly or light a nymph rod?!

Do you want to convert the rod to 12' 6weight?!
No, I do want to increase a weight to #7 by making a bit stronger butt.
