Is everyone else having problems with the Text enter box not showing the cursor, and not allowing basic editing like select, copy, paste etc?

This is driving me crazy trying to post and having to fix typos by backspacing.....................

What is going on here? Is it a setting that I can't find to change etc?

Strange. I've never seen or heard of anything like that. Have you rebooted your browser? Have you tried using a different browser just to test things?
