Midstream Rods
Hi folks,
Ray Mazza from Utica, NY the cetner of the state(of confusion)NY. Biz name is Midstream Rods. Would love to become skilled at Bamboo rod Making. A step back in time and a serious challenge regardless ofthe use or lack of machines. Far more labor intensive than the work I've done with graphite and glass. That's not to say that exquisite rods aren't being made or that they don't take lots of skill or time. I know they do! Hoping to find an instructor I can train with in the near future.

Hi Ray,
I'm new to this forum too. my intro is just below yours. I tried repairing a bamboo rod many years ago, was afraid to try stripping it down any further than the guides. So I just sanded it lightly, gave it a coat of varnish and replaced the snakes and tread finish.

As far as boo classes.
I see that the fly fishing museum in the Catskills offers a class. Not bad considering it includes accommodation.
