HI guys,
Im ready to make another rod.
Any recommendation on a taper since I want a stiff but durable tip ? Something that could handle a 10lbs fish or lighter. I am going to use the taper and make just the tip+body to be around 5foot length single piece for an ultra-light crappie/bass spin rod.
Thanks
Happy Booing!
Sounds like a 7 or 8 weight tip

Thanks BoB,
I think i'll go with a 7wt, Payne Canadian Canoe taper database... only up to 60"
Can't wait to get this one done right with my freshly made Metal form.

I am almost finished with my 5'3 rod. Initially it was goin to be 5'9 but during heating process, it burned!
I made a simple oven with just an AL gutter drain tube with a 2" hole in the middle wrapped with metal nets+fiberglass insulation around a 2" square wood bar. Then shove the whole thing inside the gutter tube. Both ends open, one for heat gun input the other for ventilation.
I should attach a 90* connector to prevent direct heat onto the bamboo. Going to do that today.
