Full Version: Is 5 RPM Enough?

Hey everyone,

I've been absent from this site for a bit. I just decided to make myself a fly turning wheel for drying epoxy flies, and thought that I might as well make it a rod drying wheel too. Will 5 RPM be enough for a rod finishing wheel?

Should be fine.
A lot of the one from the factory are only 6 rpm.

Thanks for the response. I ordered a disco ball motor (5RPM obviously) to make my drying wheel out of. I'll post a thread about the process once I get it done. Should be fun.

You might consider testing your particular finish/temp/humidity on a scrap blank. Sometimes slower rpms cause the finish to hump. A drying box is a big plus.
