I'm working on a 7 pc pack rod for my son. It's almost finished except the final coat of epoxy on the wraps.
I'm using what apears to be a comertially made rod lathe, that I modified by adding a jack shaft to slow it down for epoxy application. It works, and I'm pleased with the results. My complaint is it will only hold 1 piece of a 2 pc rod, one piece of a 3 pc rod. I'm turning the 7 pc by mounting 2 0r 3 pc's at a time, applying the epoxy and turning untill the epoxy has set on that section.
It only takes me a few minutes to apply the epoxy and then an hour or so of turning until I can swap out and do the next section.
Has anyone built a multi section rod turning device that can mount and turn 2 or 3 sections at a time? I am confident I can apply the epoxy to all wraps on a 9 ft rod before it starts to kick, but can't get my head around building a contraption to turn 2 or 3 sections at once.
Any suggestions, pictures, advise welcome.
