I'll be getting a winston B2x blank next week. For someone with limited artistic ability, I'm looking for suggestions for that special look. I'm planning on JC feathers, want to do inlays on the wraps as well.

I was considering gold guides, olive green thread with metalic gold inlay, but that seems "safe" to me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys...

You're gonna love that blank. thumbsup.gif

When I built one for a client, as I test casted it when it was finished I was wowed at the fact I got more line out quicker and straighter than any rod I built thus far. I was so impressed with it I built myself a 4wt 8'6", and I love it.

I did plain green wraps to match the blank, with single turn silver wraps, tipped in rust to tie in the amboyna insert on the seat.

Dave,

Awesome looking rod. I've been intrigued with ‘cinnamon’ wraps and just love how you accented the rod. Much much better then an entire wrap of cinnamon. Just perfect! Great feather inlay as well. Truly a piece of artwork. I wish I had your talent!

I’m very excited about the rod. I can’t believe they can build a rod that loads well at 15 feet and can also boom out a 100’ cast. This rod will be perfect for me on the Delaware river. Big water, bug fish small dry flies…. Doesn’t get any better… May can’t come fast enough…
My blank comes in Tuesday I’m told… Need to make some decisions quickly.
Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment, but there's no real talent... just patience. The thing about it is, anyone can do this. I'm lucky enough to get a buck out of it once in a while.
