Full Version: Tiger Wrap thread choice

I am reading up on how to do a Tiger Wrap and the thread choices and examples I have read about use are Gudabrod nylons and metallic threads. I have read the article in my Rodmaker magizine and have a couple of questions. What about using Madiera thread? I want to do a pattern with green as the dominate color are there any suggestions as to a nice combination of thread choices and does a tiger wrap work better on certain diameter blanks?

Will,

I can't answer your question with certaintee but I'll relay my recent experience. I did a practice tiger-wrap on a small diameter srap blank using green and black on the base wtyh a charcoal top layer. I was going for a camo type look. In the end I got a dark green underwrap with a loose looking overwrap and none of the effects I wanted from the tigerwrap. wallbash.gif My next attempt will be using base colors with more contrast and on a larger diameter blank so that the waves made by burnishing are broader.

I found this on the same topic: http://rodbuilding.org/read.php?2,322953

Looks like we're on the right path

Mike,
Thanks. It looks like Madiera will be fine with a CP. Time to experiment with some colors.
