Hello all! I'm new to the forum & very new to bamboo. I tried loading RodDNA but for some reason, my loptap won't do it. If anybody has any info regarding guide spacing & size for 7'6" 3/2 4wt hardy marvel would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
JD

If you want the original sizes and spacing, then you'll have to find someone who has measured the Hardy rod. If you are just looking for something that will work well, Chris Carlin's Guide Calculator will do the job. Just decide how far from the butt you want the stripper, and if you need to make any adjustments to keep a guide from straddling a ferrule.

My ecommendation is that you contact Hardy Grey in England. They can help you match thread color as well. Just ggogle them and click on customer service.

I second the Aracane approach. And if there were intermediate wraps ask about them too and if you are restoring rather than refurbishing get the full lowdown including varnish finish detail. They have a museum of rods and there may be an example on show- I have seen on the forum this year that there is a guy who obviously lives in Alnwick or close by who has previously offered to help posters by looking for them -and then there are the old catalogues which are sought after if you can find an owner.
To keep the rod value you need to keep as much original as you can - rings etc including saving all the written stuff on the butt -The forum has advice on how to approach that and so much more. Enjoy- Ive just finished my Sawyer Still Water (Farlows with Pezon and Michel cane) thanks in part to these guys. Better than new now.
