Does anybody use one of these? If so which one? I'm making a set of V blocks with a thread tensioner built in. I won't buy one yet but was wondering if they're worth it.

I use both, one with 2 v supports and a tensioner, and the electric is homemade from a sewing machine motor mounted with a pvs cap chuck. the rollers are old roller blade wheels.

Thanks, do you only use it for larger rods or for all sizes?

I use my (home-made) power wrapper on all the rods I've built, from all those UL's to the 8wt I've been working on for....ever(?). For tension I use a thread bobbbin. The same one you fly tiers use. Mine has a ceramic tip to reduce fraying.

Just bought mine. Still getting used to it. I got it for a few specialized reasons but may use it for everything if I can get the hang of it.

i use the power wrapper for under wraps and larger guide wraps and the hand wrapper when putting in detail.

I use both electric and a hand wrapper. Electric is fun but nothing beats the hands on feeling you get from the old way in my opinion.

I like my power wrapper. I need both hands to keep my finish brush steady. Too much caffiene.
