Hi all,
what do you think what is the best position for a snake guide on a rod with bamboo ferrules?
Should it be on the tip section near the female ferrule or on the butt next to the male ferrule?

Measuring from the tip top, where would the snake guide be positioned on the blank? Some of the 'boo builders might have more info than what I have given.

The position of the guide is more dependent on the rod's length. A light weight bamboo ferrule changes the rod's deflection in the butt half, so you would use the same placement as a conventionally ferruled rod. There is a rare event where a ferrule placement program will put a snale guide straddling the physical end of the tip section. If the majority of the guide is on the tip I move the guide up, and down if most of the guide is on the butt side. Gide placement is not so critical that you can't move things around a little to miss a ferrule. The conventional ferruling guys have the same problems on occasion, especially when going over 2 pieces.
