Hello everybody,
This rod along with a couple of blanks were given to me. I know nothing about bamboo, so I was hoping to gain some history of it from the bamboo experts here.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

The rod is a Horrocks and Ibbotson. The company goes back to 1812. This particular rod would have been built in the period 1945 to 1950 given the decal and the markings "Genuine Tonkin Cane".
If you could supply more info on the hardware and wraps it would be possible to be more specific. HI were in business making bamboo rods at least until 1962.
Cheers!

To add to Arne's comments, the H-I rods were produced by the thousands for the mass market and are therefore not particularly valuable as collectibles. Values range from $50 to about $250. And of course there are far more $50 rods than $250 rods.

Thank you gentlemen! Here are a few more pictures of the rod. It comes with two tips and it appears that everything is intact.

Aha! It's a casting rod. Deduct considerably from the $$ values I mentioned above.
Sorry,
Harry
