I would like to know how many of us use only certain 'Trademark' colors, wheather it's on a build for self, customer, etc.
Case in point... the man that taught me to wrap used only Gold Met and Red, in many placements, for every build after 1984. Says he can still spot one of his at 20 feet. I'd say that's good for an 88 year old fart that won't wear his glasses unless the police ask him to.
Do you tend to follow this method or do you like to mix it up? Do you have certain colors for, say, a rod intended to fish TX- rigged worms in deep clear water and I'm overthinking this and writing run-on-sentences. blush.gif

I do use a lot of Garnet as well as Greens more than others colors, but I use everything out there in colors as well, just those two colors the "most".

Thanks Steve! I suppose my Poll (my first ever) was poorly composed. What I was aiming at is; do you use Garnet and Green as your signature colors? Please expound on the question as time permits. I'm opening a box with a set of reamers in it. I might be AWOL for a few hours.

100% ?? shocking.gif Whoa!!!
Okay, dig on this new wrap thought of mine...
Major colors are Royal Blue with Steel Blue Met for trim on the guides. At the butt, I want to reverse it with Gunmetal, Royal Blue Met trim.
The blank is a Batson Forecast MB843 in Clear Gloss mated to a cork grip sporting a Revo S. Guides are black with blue rings. If I were to incorporate a minimal 3rd color in the butt-wrap, I thought that long, Black spirals over the gunmetal might be interesting. Then again, that might be dull. What about Charcoal? What about Met Pewter? White NCP wrapped over CP'd Gunmetal? unsure.gif

I did a forcast with Royal blue wraps and the Steel Blue metallic trim - no CP and everyone that has seen it loves the color combo. I do not know about the reverse. It was my first time using metallic thread, possibly my last time. I am going to due another forcast with royal blue wraps and steel grey trim or gold trim - not sure yet. My digital camera died, so no pictures yet. Casts really well though!

I guess that's important. Canned sardines and saltine crackers get really old after 3 weeks rolleyes.gif .
That new Steel Blue met is nice! I've got three guides on and it is a good-looking combo with the Royal. I will send good thoughts for your camera. kicking.gif
I want to do the butt-wrap in the same scheme but opposite. Make sence? Gudebrod 1011 Gunmetal is very close to the Steel Blue met, and I have Royal met for trimming. I will be attempting a simple diamond pattern on this, my third, build.
I'm thinking that I would like to incorporate a third color in that wrap. I want it minimal but noticable to the eye. I guess I'm trying to artistically transition the focal points from the blue guides to the silver Revo S reel. Is 'artistically' a word?? It is now!
Landrodz, as you have built using these colors - do you ever wake up at 3 in the morning wondering? What is that elusive color that we could toss in? I'm leaning towards Charcoal.

Well I think I was wrapping the metallic thread too tight - it snapped, alot. I want to do a royal, gun metal, and white ncp (penn State colors) Charcoal will probably work.

Look around at different sports Jerseys and logos - if it will work in a uniform, it will work on a rod!!

By the way my favorite combo so far has been dark green with orange/black twist no CP - makes it look chestnut on a matirk blank. The green/brown just reminds me of a dark fish - may just be a personal thing.

My mind is in a knot. Denver Broncos 'Orange Crush' colors sound good on blue blank mad.gif . Then again - I could wrap ... nevermind.

Here is a pic that I would like your thoughts on. The mess that you see wrapped over the guide is A size Gudebrod Royal (245) with the Steel Blue Met (9006) for trim. CP'd.
I'm doing better with my wrap lengths. Thanks All!!
On the thread tower,... some folks calls 'em Stantions, I calls 'em towers.. I swapped the Royal for Royal Met and the Steel Blue for the 1011 Gunmetal. That spool on top, it's the Steel Blue that i want as my third color. Mixed across the Gunmetal.
Here is my thinking... the blue and grey will oppose what was done on the guides. I need to be turned on to the easiest method to do the most simple of buttwraps. I have spent HOURS digging through the pic archives and have a lot of ideas that I just can't, quite wrap my head around. I just need to do a real simple Spiral over about 7 inches.
