Earlier this week John (ridderbos3) put me in touch with one of the gentlemen that he gets rod components from. After exchanging a few emails he has generously offered a 20% discount to any RBF member on any purchase!!!
 Check out their website at http://www.patriotcustomrods.com/. They carry Batson (Forecast and Rainshadow) and other blanks as well as tons of other components for both spin and fly fishing rods. I know some of you were discussing the 6'6" 2wt Forecast blank, so as an example, Dave sells these at a regular price of $14.72. Subtract 20% for a total of less than $11.78 for a decent 2wt blank! I am lucky enough to have dave at patriot custom rods as my local rod building store. Not many people have a local rod building supply house minutes from their home.
I was out there a couple of weeks ago and dave custom turned a crip for me for my little 1 wt rod. We had to keep the entire reel seat and grip below 7.5 inches. He did it no problem and told me to let everyone on the rodbuildingforum know that he has no problem doing that type of custom work for everyone else. dave is a hell of a guy, great selection, great prices, and I proudly do all my rod building stuff with him. I will post pics of my 1 wt after I am done finishing it this weekend. Carl made the blank, it is a 5 foot 1 wt bamboo. john |

Just curious - is Patriot still offering their 20% off? I'm a newbie to rodbuilding and need some supplies for ice rods I'm building, as well as an 8'6" 4wt Forecast and a 6'6" UL Forecast spinning rod. I checked Patriot's site - and it's AWESOME!!
 Great selection, good prices even before the 20% off!

HE builds thousands of ice rods each year. Also, he has a lot more in stock than what is on his website.

I'm psyched to have found this site and joined - looks like a great, very knowledgeable group of people here, and from what I've seen, a very friendly site overall. My only problem is that I am completely, totally, hopelessly addicted to rodbuilding. Seriously, it's all consuming....
