Cool Somebody changed this so you can see them in first view.
Click on any grip and the drawing will open in a seperate window.
Depending on your printer, Adobe Reader may try to scale down the image.
If you make sure the image is 100 percent scale it will print to exact scale. Some printers will lop off the left page border. thumbsup.gif

What is the easiest way to bore out the recess for the reel seat? I'm going to try to make my first grip.

Thanks

I use a hole saw. Replace the center bit with a piece of 1/4 rod, and sand down the outside of the saw just a tad for a nicer fit!

This is what I use. Just click on the link below. It bores to .750. I had to go a little bigger on a salt water grip I built for a professional rod builder so I bored a 1/4 inch cork to .750, dremmeled it to .875, tuurned it to the same size as the inlet end of the grip and then used a 7/8 Forstner bit chucked in my lathe to finish the inlet. It did a fantastic job. And now he wants another one, which will be the fourth for him so I am getting lots of practice. He saw this grip and reel seat I made for a friend so he decided to give me a shot.

Bellow is the link Bowbiker is referring to. This is by far the easiest meathod that I have found. I inled the grip after it is turned on the lath.
