Yep Tim is correct. Turning between centres is safe as pencil sharpening.

Remember theres not much pressure when sanding cork.

Be safe. Use the shortest thickest rod you can use. You can always ream out the cork if needed.

Hi mate. I use a small 3 jaw chuck with a threaded rod thats covered with tape (for sanding) nut and washer at each end.

I pushed the threaded rod thru the headstock till no more than 1\2 inch was protuded and then I centre drilled the tail stock end with a little engineers stub drill to make sure it was correctly centetred.

Thats it SIMPLE!!
