Don't make any opinions of silk lines based on the Zhu. The one I have is under-weight and has virtually no taper.
Well, a good silk line is so far out of my budget I'd never experience one without trying the chinese line first. Lawn casted it in the wind last night and it cast decent enough. I'll learn more when I take it fishing next week. It didn't appear to have much taper.
I didn't used to like clear wraps really and honestly that wasn't my ultimate goal here. The wraps were light olive gossamer. I didn't do anything special other than put varnish on it.
