I have a 10' 3-weight Orvis Helios-2 blank on order and am patiently awaiting its arrival.  I have built numerous 2-piece rods over the years and this will be my first 4-piece.

So I can be prepared with the right sizes of guides, and know the distances they should be placed on the blank, I have contacted Orvis on four occasions requesting that information.  Once was by phone and the others were emails.  In every instance my request has been completely ignored.

Does anyone out there know the guide sizes and placements the Orvis factory uses on their Helios-2 10' 3-weight?

Thanks John T.  I'm hoping that's the same one Orvis uses.

To start with I would never go with their sizing of their guides. You only need 3 size guides on it. Then I would start with a basic layout and do a stress test on it.  Secondly I would never build on a blank that a factory will not warranty

Only the original blank against material and workmanship before it is built. That was as 6 months ago, and I do not believe they have changed their policy as far as I know. But I have been wrong before

My father told his boss one time that he was only wrong once- that was when he thought he was wrong.  Let's leave the wives out of this thread.  Brings back too many time of being wrong.
