Although I am a dedicated cane rod maker, I recently received a Seele glass blank from Michael Mauri, one of the principals in that company. It is an 8'8", 6 weight and I just finished it in the same style I use for my cane rods. Yesterday, the completed rod got nice reviews at the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club casting ponds and I happen to think it is a pleasure to cast (fishing has to wait a while).

I have posted pictures of the rod on Clarks ( http://classicflyrod...=685572#p685572 ).  I would have done so here, but the 50kb limit on file size made that impractical.

Nice work Tim! Is the reel seat insert fiberglass resin and matt?

Very nice, Bob

The reel-seat insert is a material called G10 and is like Micarta but with glass cloth instead of linen, canvas,or paper.  So, you are right, it is, essentially, fiberglass mat and resin.  I bought a chunk of it here:  The fish is scrimshawed, before that question comes up!

Thanks guys, for the compliments and thanks to Ron for getting the pics here.
