If you use that mandrel, you have enough to do it

Really? Well then my two questions are

What goes in the tailstock to hold the narrower end?

What keeps the blank from just freely spinning on the mandrel?

Your mandrel since it does not have the locking nut is designed for the mandrel saver in the tail stock.

My small one if and whenever I have to use it is threaded

My Headstock, pennstate industries Barracuda2 four jaw chuck.

My tailstock, 1/2" live tailstock drill chuck #2MT.

With these two and a couple mandrels, you don't need anything else.

Maybe I missed it but what kind of Wood Lathe do you have?   I see green in one of the pictures so either a Grizzly or HF comes to mind.

The faceplate and the drive center and tail center are virtually useless for our work.   That's where the live center and dead center replace.

You already have a Drill Chuck so your good to go there.  You will mount that in the Tailstock and the PSI Pen Drilling Chuck mounts in the headstock.

It looks like you have a pen mandrel in the last picture.  Is the shaft replaceable in the MT2 taper

With the 3 Jaw Chuck, you would mount that in the Headstock, put the Live Center in the tailstock and the 1/4" rod would mount into the point of the live center.  The other end of the rod would mount in the chuck.

I have the harbor freight lathe. I have most of it figured out except 1 thing. I am going to drill the hole in a blank tonight, but when I look at the mandrel I cant figure out how to keep the mandrel from just spinning. How do you secure the blank to the mandrel?

I think I am going to turn between centers after I drill the hole.

I appreciate the feedback so far, I am a 100% newbie and your guys' input helped a lot.
