Hello All,

I'm new to the forum, and new to rod building. Looking for a new hobby.

I'm having trouble locating a good article or explanation that addresses the differences, performance, pros and cons of the different IM6, 7, and 8 graphite rod blanks. I've read a few articles but some of the information seems to contradict information I previously read.

Any resources, or information that anyone could share about the differences and why I would indeed want to consider one type over the other, would be greatly appreciated!

I gave up reading articles about this because so much depends on the compounds and wrap style anyway. But I've fished with both iM6 and iM7 rods, the 7 's generally were thinner blanks, stiffer and faster action, the 6's softer but still powerful and to me better on presentation and more forgiving with a smaller scrappy fish on. The 7's in general put out more line with less effort though. But certainly I have never fished with all the possibilities out there in each, Never mind iM8 which I have never fished at all. Very general statement I know,,just my experience.
