In Topic: any tips on keeping guides aligned straight?

One technique that I have found very useful -

• once your guides are wrapped, take the rod sections outside where one has natural lighting.

• find a light colored background and hold a rod section up & down, about an arm's length off.

• have the guides face away from you and look to see how much of the guide is off center from the rod blank.

You'll be amazed at how well this works; it can show minute variations in centering that the normal 'looking down the barrel' doesn't show. Hope my description makes sense, easy to do, hard to explain.

Hi Hatchet Jack, I may be a 'little confused. To me, I need a system that helps me align the guides BEFORE they are wrapped! If I wait until after they are wrapped, then I decide using your method that the guides are crooked, I would have to cut them off and rewrap!

Kind Regards,

Charlie
