Well after setting my form and planing the strips I glued them up and it should have been a Sir D 7042!! I really don't know what happened here, but I suspect some hidden gremlins in my man cave!!
It's a brilliant 48 inch tip and powerful..., I think it's about 8_9#

Q. What butt for this and its line weight.

Here is your tip continued into a butt with a straight taper:

5     0.109

10   0.130

15   0.139

20   0.155

25   0.166

30   0.180

35   0.190

40   0.224

45   0.240

50   0.246

55   0.261

60   0.277

65   0.292

70   0.307

75   0.322

80   0.338

85   0.353

90   0.368

95   0.384

100   0.399

You can go flat under the grip, if you wish.  Graph the numbers to see what it looks like.

If you will, have a look at this taper built as a 3 piece for a 10 wt. line Quite powerful with some flex down into the butt. It is nothing like your original intent though.

Thanks Tim. Thanks Galt. Much appreciated.

Looks like I`m going to make a real heavyweight fly rod. Something I have`nt got.

Might put/fit a removable extension for a fixed spool reel.
