Hi people.
Chris Carlins taper, I will post pics soon.

I have almost finished my 7042 7ft #4 swelled
butt cane rod and its caught 4 carp 4 to 6 lb.
What a fantastic rod, using #6 wf.
Easily cast 45 ft roll cast and 70ft straight cast.

This was so easy to plane down

I would like to make this as an 8 ft or 8.5ft
Is this possible without altering the characteristics of
this great rod???

Thanks for the help
regs
Chris

I'm withdrawing my suggestion. Do as Harry suggests.

Using Hexrod you should be able to convert the taper to eight feet and have it remain quite similar in feel to the original. I have done so many, many times and would be happy to help if you contact me offline.

Sorry, I was being a wise***.

The simple fact is, though, if you change any aspect of the geometry of a rod, you change the characteristics. That's the physics of rod building.

That said, if you work with Harry, he can help you design a rod, to your specifications, that will have similar casting characteristics. I will NOT be the same, but you might actually like it better....
