For the first '05 FTOTY poll, lets decide on the line weight of the rod. I chose the most popular line weights for bamboo rods. To help your decision, the only stipulation that I'm going to set on the rod itself is that it will be a 2pc rod.

Once we have decided on the weight we can move on to the length. Then we'll begin the actual build process. headbang.gif

I voted the lone vote for a 7wt. I want to see a bamboo stand up to the test of a steelhead.

I went with the 4, cause we don't have wild trout or salmon in the Netherlands.

I voted for a 6wt because I already have the world's most beatiful and functional 4wt bamboo masterpiece in the form of a Payne 97 taper smile.gif

Uh... Do I even get a vote?

Cheers!

Why not wait to build it till the winner has won? Then they could pick their own weight/length, etc. dunno.gif

By having these polls it lets everyone get involved. Only one person will end up winning the rod but everyone gets to participate in voting for the various options. Plus, by watching the step by step build throughout the year it gets everyone excited about the rod that they might win. I think it raises the excitement level for the contest and get people interested in at least submitting one fly.

Lets let this poll go through this Sunday, 9pm EST. Any votes after that will not be counted. I'll put up the second poll at that time as well. kicking.gif

A 5 weight is a better all around line weight if you are predominately fishing for trout. 6 weight is not bad either, but a 4 weight might not be too good if you might be fishing on a lake. I sometimes use a 7 weight on lakes, casts into the wind better.
